Alternative compliant umbrella solutions.

With the changes in regulations defined by the 2007 Budget, salary plus dividend payments through a Composite Company have been replaced by Umbrella Company solutions where the agency worker is paid salary and expenses or through the alternative route of a Single Owner Limited Company. Agencies can only employ temporary workers on a PAYE basis and have no scope to handle business expenses. Nevertheless IR35 is still relevant in respect to dividends in the Single Owner Limited Company.

An umbrella solution (PAYE) is in general the favoured route to maximise temporary workers take home pay which is enhanced by the inclusion of business expenses.

In the case of those involved in construction, there are alternatives for those whose status can be confirmed and have a Unique Tax Reference number (UTR). Our tax team would be pleased to advise you if you are involved in the construction sector.

In all cases the Agency worker who remains an employee and therefore not affected by IR35, negotiates his own assignments and conditions, while Payscheme provides bookkeeping and payroll services to keep the operative compliant and up to date with his tax and NI.

Cover includes Public & Employers’ Liability and Professional Indemnity cover in line with the contract requirements.

Tax compliance advice, estate planning, mortgage and investment recommendations can be provided through our financial affiliates.
